Dunthorpe Homes For Sale
Considered by many to be the most prestigious address in Portland, Dunthorpe is known for its beautiful homes and ideal location. It’s just 10 minutes from downtown Portland and is even closer to the neighboring city of Lake Oswego, where our firm is located. Dunthorpe sits along the west side of the Willamette River and many of its homes feature gorgeous water views and access to the to the water for boating and water sports. Homes in this area tend to be big, beautiful luxury estates with big lots. When the area was founded in 1916, the minimum cost of a home was to be $3000. Today, zoning laws dictate lots be a minimum of 20,000 sq. feet with many properties exceeding an acre or more. Though it is not an official neighborhood, homes in Dunthorpe fetched the city’s highest median home sale price of $1.192 million in 2016.
One of my favorite parts of Dunthorpe is the Elk Rock Gardens of the Bishop’s Close. Featuring gorgeous Mt. Hood views and beautiful English-style gardens, this public park is 13 acres of native and non-native plants including a wonderful collections of magnolias. Also nearby is Tryon Creek State Park, 545 acres of hiking, biking and horse trails and Lewis and Clark College.
Dunthorpe’s Riverdale School District is among the highest academically performing in the state and was the third richest school district in the United States according to an analysis of U.S. Census data.
